Description

Local roofers J. W. Gray and Son are reshingling the roof of Moulsford Church with cedar-wood shingles and replacing the old oak shingles as part of Phase One of Operation Overcoat. The spire will be topped with a weather cock, paid for by an anonymous parishioner, for the first time in many years since the last one became delapidated and disappeared. The renovation of the spire is expected to cost about 250, and Phase Two of the scheme, which includes repairs to the roof of the church, will be carried out in the next few years and will be more expensive. To raise funds to meet the expenses of the project, an appeal for funds is set to launch in around six weeks and a preliminary, local appeal to “buy” a shingle for the spire at half-a-crown each has already raised 20.Local roofers J.
