Description

On March 8th, 2021, a 16,000 Steinway grand piano was maneuvered through the front window of a first-floor flat in Walton Well Road, North Oxford. The instrument, weighing nearly half a ton, was too big to exit through the stairs. Marsh Plant Hire in Long Crendon provided the 12-ton capacity crane to lift the piano and return it to Steinway House, London. The spokesman for Marsh Plant Hire noted that the job was relatively easy, but it was important to take all necessary precautions with such a valuable instrument. On March 8th, 2021, a 16,000 Steinway grand piano was maneuvered through the front window of a first-floor flat in Walton Well Road, North Oxford. A grand lifting job! Steinway makes an unusual NY als exit A 16,000 GRAND piano weighing nearly half a ton was lifted through the front window of a first-floor flat because it was too big to leave by the stairs. A 12-ton capacity crane was brought into use to manoeuvre the bulky Steinway, left, from a flat in Walton Well Road, North Oxford. The piano was being returned to Steinway House, in London, after a period on hire to the flat owner. The crane was provided by Marsh Plant Hire, in Long Crendon. A spokesman said: “It is actually a pretty easy job, but, with an instrument as valuable as this, you don’t take any chances.”
