Description
At the Morrab Gardens in Penzance, Cornwall, a 50-year-old Mexican Agave, a species of cactus, is currently blooming and drawing attention from visitors. Unusually tall for its species, the Agave stands at a towering 25 feet and is still growing. A stem, about the thickness of a clothes pole, shoots up from the center of its long spiky leaves, and it is from this stem that the greenish waxy flowers grow. This flowering is a rare phenomenon as the Agave blooms very infrequently. At the Morrab Gardens in Penzance, Cornwall, a 50-year-old Mexican Agave, a species of cactus, is currently blooming and drawing attention from visitors. MJH/?.1. Creating a great deal of interest is the unusual sight sks of a Mexican Agave, a species of cactus, now coming out in full bloom near the sunken grotte of the Morrab Gardens, Pensano (Cornwall). The agave blooms very infrequently, but when it does sc, a stom, about the thickness of a oloshes pole, shoots up from the centre of it’s long spiky leaves, and it is from this stem that the greenish waxy flowers grow. The Agave at Ponzance is unusual in another respect too, for the average height of an agave in bloom is about 17-18 feet, but the Penzanoe specimen las already reached a height of over 25ft, and is still growing.
