Description
Workmen are seen dismantling equipment from the former Bicester gas plant in Oxfordshire, England. The 30-acre site has been purchased by Chaucer Estates Ltd, of London, to be developed into an industrial estate of factories and warehouses. The gas plant, which was built in 1968 at a cost of 2m, was closed within three years and the site had been on the market for some time before it was bought. The equipment being removed includes giant spherical storage tanks, which were the centre of controversy when they were first put up due to their shape. Another 30-acre site opposite the former gas plant has also been purchased this year for development, giving Bicester three industrial estates.Workmen are seen dismantling equipment from the former Bicester gas plant in Oxfordshire, England.
