Description

On January 22, 1968, a 150-ton excavator was moved from the old ironstone workings alongside the A422 road near Wrozton, England. Traffic was diverted by Banbury police for most of the morning while the excavator was dragged from the workings and put on a truck for shipment to Scotland. The heavy cable in the foreground carries the electricity supply to the excavator. The quarry, which had been operated by the Oxfordshire Ironstone Co. Ltd., had closed in September the previous year. Despite the planned move taking place on January 8, the bad weather had prevented it until yesterday. On January 22, 1968, a 150-ton excavator was moved from the old ironstone workings alongside the A422 road near Wrozton, England.
