Last Friday, a convoy of lorries loaded with 10,000 field dressings, 53 marquees and 34 eight-man tents left the Bicester Ordnance Depot for relief work in Nigeria. The supplies were loaded in Red Cross trucks with the inscription on the cab doors, “A gift from the people of Britain”. The trucks left the depot at noon for R.A.F. Manston, Kent and were then loaded on civilian aircraft for immediate flight to Nigeria. The loading operation was watched by the Garrison Commander, Brigadier E. H. Hancock, and the only member of the W.R.A.C. involved was Pte. Ricia Miller, a forklift truck driver of 16th Batt.
