Description

At a meeting of the Wallingford Rural Council Public Health and Planning Committee yesterday, Mr. Cyril Wilcher, chairman of the East Hagbourne parish council, expressed his view that the six-acre plot of land at East Hagbourne should be developed for housing. Mr. Wilcher argued that this would expand the village and is in line with the governments policy of increasing the availability of land for housing. However, the application presented by Mr. Arthur Napper to develop the land for 48-60 houses has been turned down by Berkshire County Council Planning Committee due to it extending beyond the limits set for residential development in the village. Mr. Wilcher believes that the county should not be using traffic as a reason to deny the development as it should not be a barrier to housing developments. At a meeting of the Wallingford Rural Council Public Health and Planning Committee yesterday, Mr. Cyril Wilcher, chairman of the East Hagbourne parish council, expressed his view that the six-acre plot of land at East Hagbourne should be developed for housing.
