On January 30th, 1985, teams of volunteers from Volunteer Link Up, a local self-help group, decorated and refurbished three flats above the International supermarket in West Oxfordshire. The flats are intended to provide accommodation and assistance to over 100 severely mentally handicapped adults in the area with two trained professionals and volunteers providing a back-up. It is hoped that some of the adults will eventually move permanently into a hostel, group home or IT capital costs involved in getting the flats ready.
