On June 18th 1957, West Indies batsman Clyde Walcott was seen at Lord’s cricket ground in London, contemplating the second Test match of the series against England. Walcott had been missed in the slips when he was nine, but went on to make an impressive 168 runs not out and share a record sixth wicket stand of 211 with Gerry Gomez in the corresponding match in 1950. Walcott, who is 31 and from Barbados, is a successful Test run-getter and established a record for all Test cricket when scoring five centuries – twice making two in a match against Australia in 1954-55.
