On May 17th, 1963, workers in the Woodstock factory of Industrial Glovers (Cheam) Ltd. were busy stitching together parts of gloves. The firm, established 12 years prior at Cheam, had its second factory at Woodstock for just over four years. The factory employed 35 people and gave work to 30 women in their own homes in the town and the villages around. In charge of the factory was Mr. P. R.
